Color, innovative design and sweet details: welcome to Bonbon , the new tangy collection from Richard Mille. For once, the watchmaker innovates and surprises the public with watches that plunge us back into the delights of childhood.
It is a collection that is both daring, surprising and evocative that Richard Mille presented a preview at the recent Salon international de la haute horlogerie ( SIHH ), in Geneva. The Maison has delighted the public’s eyes with timepieces that skilfully blend two worlds: gourmet food and watchmaking. From the sweet-tangy colors to the skilfully crafted details, we can only admire the exceptional craftsmanship, as much as the brand’s cheek. Ovation for Cécile Guenat, artistic director of Bonbon , who wanted to create here a collection of watches that is at once ” disruptive, elegant, daring and fun, in a word: creative!” “.
Bonbon gives pride of place to carefree, lightness and fun with its ten mixed models divided into two series: Fruit Line and Sweets Line . These unfold in a wide chromatic spectrum, with a total of 60 vibrant colors, including a whole new shade of turquoise. As for the 3,000 miniature sculptures adorning the timepieces in this collection, they were painted in acrylic and lacquered by hand. A long and meticulous work of which we admire the final result.
For the design, Richard Mille relied on three of his iconic models, namely the RM 07-03 , the RM 38-01 and the RM 16-0 .
Homage to fruits with six sweet flavors, which, like delicious sorbets, come in three different models: lemon and strawberry ( RM 16-01 ), blueberry and lychee ( RM 07-03 ), kiwi and cherry ( RM 37-01) ). The Fruit Line watches feature a skeleton dial and exhibit a Carbon TPT® and Quartz TPT® case. The use of powdered enamel on the latter allows to obtain a superb “iced sweet coating” effect.
The Sweets Line includes four models, all with two-tone ceramic housings: the RM 07-03 Cupcake , the RM 07-03 Marshmallow , the RM 37-01 Sucette and the RM 16-01 Liquorice .
We fell in love with this line, whose textures perfectly imitate those of sweets and make you want to bite into it.
For those interested, this new gourmet collection will be available in Richard Mille boutiques from spring / summer, and each model will be limited to 30 copies.
