BR 03-92 BI-COMPASS: when Bell & Ross goes from the cockpit to the wrist

A creative brand with an undeniably innovative spirit, Bell & Ross recently released a new model with an inspired and really pleasant design. The idea of this BR03-92 BI-COMPASS  ? Give its owner the feeling of wearing a part of an airplane cockpit on his wrist. Notice to amateurs and collectors!

Since its creation in 1992, the Franco-Swiss watch brand has endeavored to design specific timepieces modeled on very specific trades and designed to withstand extreme conditions. Bell & Ross offers functional, useful, reliable and efficient watches. Without forgetting to add lines and a unique time display, easily recognizable to the seasoned observer.

In 2005, the brand decided to put aside the codes of traditional watchmaking to transform the clock in the cockpit of an airplane into a wristwatch, thus the Instruments collection was born . It is in this exploration of navigation tools that astonishing models such as the BR01 RADAR , the BR01 ALTIMETER , the BR01 CLIMB appear . Also the last one that we present to you today, the BR03-92 BI-COMPASS .

It is a watch with a very contemporary and masculine design that we discover here, with its square matte black ceramic case with rounded edges. Black for the strap too, which is made of black rubber and ultra-resistant synthetic canvas.

We are then very interested in the dial whose arrangement is quite interesting. It is in fact designed on two levels, with a central part and an outer part displaying the timer. With the idea of offering optimal readability, the hour and minute graduations are on two levels: the minutes in beige on the outside, the hours in green on the central dial. The hour reading is indicated by a green triangle which appears in the center by means of an independent, non-graduated concentric disc. The green indications are also coated with SuperLuminova.

This is an adjustment to the nearest micron which ensures that the disc remains constantly parallel as it rotates. The precision of the assembly requires the know-how of master watchmakers. The typography used for the numbers is identical to that of analogue aviation meters (Isonorm). Thus, the design of this dial clearly represents a beautiful technical challenge.

Regarding the heart of this BR03-92 BI-COMPASS , it is driven by an automatic mechanical movement caliber BR-CAL.302 with hours, minutes, seconds and date functions (calendar between 4 and 5 o’clock). The watch is also waterproof up to 100m.

Price: € 3,500
